ACRES to host limited hours during office renovation
ACRES Land Trust’s office at Tom and Jane Dustin Nature Preserve will close for renovation Feb. 15. While the office is closed, we will staff limited hours Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dustin Barn, 1992 Chapman Road, Huntertown, IN 46748.
The project is part of ACRES expansion plan. The renovation will improve office efficiency and accessibility. Updates include adding workspace for staff and volunteers, and expanding restrooms.
“The renovation will make the building even more welcoming than it is now – you will be greeted with accessible parking and walkways, someone to welcome you as you walk through the front door, and new accessible restrooms,” said ACRES Executive Director Jason Kissel. “The renovation will also create two new office areas, allowing all employees and volunteers to work on the same floor.”
Built of cedar and stone on a bluff high over Cedar Creek, the office was originally the home of Tom and Jane Dustin, two of ACRES founding members.
“We’ve maintained the character of the building while enhancing the functionality and increasing everyone’s access to it. We can’t wait to share it with you once it’s complete. The building’s history, architecture, and soon-to-be enhanced functionality and accessibility will make it the ideal place to facilitate the protection of land from,” Kissel said.
ACRES anticipates office construction to be complete by the end of April 2021.
During construction, staff will also be working remotely and available by phone and email. To contact ACRES, email [email protected] or call 260-637-2273.
Trails at the preserve remain open from dawn to dusk.
